(New Philadelphia, Ohio) — The Suicide Prevention Committee through the Empower Tusc Coalition is proud to offer Mental Health First Aid training on August 16, 2022.

Two free training opportunities will be held: Adult Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid. Both classes will be offered on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kent State Tuscarawas.

“Ensuring that we know how to be supportive individuals and a supportive community is essential as it relates to mental health,” explained Empower Tusc Coordinator, Jodi Salvo. “We strongly encourage community members to consider registering to attend this free training opportunity.”

During each course attendees will learn to identify common signs and symptoms of mental illness, how to interact with a person in a crisis, and where to find resources for those in crisis.

Those encouraged to attend include anyone who works with the public or community members, anyone who interacts with youth and adults, and anyone effected by mental illness.

The training is free courtesy of support from Prevention Action Alliance and the Empower Tusc Suicide Prevention Committee.
